Answers to frequently asked questions about your Maui beach wedding!

Q:        How do I get a Marriage License?

A:        A Perfect Paradise Wedding will make your marriage license appointment for you,  once we know your arrival date and where you will be staying on Maui.  There is no waiting period in Hawaii, you will just need to provide valid photo ID. We will forward you the link to the application & provide with you with directions to your agent’s location.  Please bring your Hawaii Marriage License with you to the wedding ceremony to be signed by your Officiate.

Q:        What is the best time of day to have a beach wedding?

A:        I love both morning & sunset weddings! Morning weddings are great for brighter, more vivid colors, we recommend starting around 9:00am before it starts to get busy at the beach.  For Sunset weddings, depending on the group size, we recommend starting the ceremony 1 to 1.5 hours prior to sunset.  The lighting is soft, more orange & pink tones and ending the bridal portraits with a great Maui sunset!

Q:        Do we need a beach permit?

A:        The State of Hawaii does require a permit which is included in all of our pre-designed wedding packages.  State permitting rules allow for a maximum of 30 guests, for larger groups we would be happy to recommend one of our beautiful private venues.

Q:        Can we have arches or chairs on the beach for our wedding?

A:        All Hawaiian beaches are considered public property and we are not allowed to have any type of structures or objects that might detour others from enjoying the beach. We have several ocean front & ocean view properties for you to consider if having chairs for your guests & an arch is a must!

Q:        What happens if it rains?

A:        Luckily, this is rarely an issue on Maui, as most beaches are located in the dry zones with very little rain!  In the event of rain, we would attempt to move your wedding to a nearby beach, offer suggestions for private and covered options,  or if necessary we can attempt to reschedule the wedding day for you.

Simple Elegance at The Olowalu Plantation House

As soon as I met Nicole & Brandon, I knew I would love working with them and I was right!  They were such a sweet, easy going couple who recently made Maui their home.

We set up a site visit for the Olowalu Plantation house and the couple fell in love with the venue at first sight!  We went over their vision, layout and overall feel they were looking for, simple, but elegant!

We created an intimate grand dining table with burlap runners, wooden disks, mason jar vases and of course a ton of candles! Romantic, bistro lighting was strung above the dining & dance area, providing the perfect glow.  Drinks were served at the Vintage style bar, adorned by bulb lights which provided a very chic look by Aloha Bars.

A very important aspect for the couple was to have a great caterer and delicious food for their guests.  We recommended our personal favorites, Café O’ Lei and they delivered!  Passed appetizers of crispy calamari, Kalua Pork canapés, Chicken satay’s with a Thai Peanut sauce, and a wonderful buffet menu with a bit of everything!

Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple chose to go with assorted chocolate covered strawberries and cupcakes from Maui wedding cakes, which were a big hit! .

The fabulous photographer that captured this stunning event, was the brides cousin and professional photographer Lauren Allison!  https://www.lcallison.com/  Such a talented & wonderful photographer to work with!

I’m so blessed to live in Maui, enjoy what I do, and to have amazing clients that I now call friends!

Eloping Hawaiian style!

There are those who dream of a big blow out wedding with tons of guests and fancy décor. Other’s fantasize about eloping with only a few friends and family…or perhaps with no one at all.

In  the 17 years of my wedding planning experience on Maui,  I have heard many valid reasons for couples choosing a destination wedding or eloping!  Planning a wedding can be overwhelming! Family dynamics, dramas, geographic and the most obvious reason, the expense can cause a lot of stress.  The “Knot” says the average wedding in the United States these days starts around $30 000!   Why not consider a destination wedding for a fraction of that cost and the bonus of a wonderful honey moon all in one?!

Many couples are choosing to keep it simple, stress free, and to focus on what really matters, the marriage, love and lifelong commitment they are making!  If the idea of a intimate ceremony,  on a beautiful island,  appeals to you visit our web site http://www.aperfectparadisewedding.com/ to view the packages and locations that we have to offer.  Your welcome to give us a call at 1-800-969-6281 to discuss your event in detail and have a personalized proposal created for you!

Special Thank you to Aihara Photography for the beautiful images & Rev, Alapaki for the special ceremony!

“Rock the Frock”

Rock the Frock!

It’s been called a “rock the frock” session, “trash the dress” shot, basically it’s another occasion to put on that beautiful dress and have some fun, creating memories that will last a life time!

My biggest piece of advice to my couples planning their destination weddings is to get a good photography package!  When it’s all said and done, it’s the beautiful images that you take home to share and cherish! Most photographers offer a 2nd day shoot to their wedding couples at a very affordable price and I highly recommend looking it to it!

A 2nd day shoot gives you the opportunity to capture some truly intimate and romantic images and celebrate your love!  Wedding days go by in a blur filled with an emotional high, the 2nd day shoot allows time for just the two of you to relax and enjoy the moment.

Believe it or not, the majority of my brides that chose a “trash the dress” session, say that the dry cleaners were able to get the dress cleaned of salt water, sand & dirt without a problem! If you don’t want to risk that designer dress, get an inexpensive dress just for the occasion.

The 2nd day shoot is an amazing way to document  the beginning of a new and exciting chapter,  of your lives together!
