Dream Wedding in Makena

Patty and Henry fell in love with the private, ocean front Kukahiko estate for their intimate ceremony location.  Located on the South side of Maui, the Kukahiko estate offers incredible views of the Pacific Ocean and the Islands of Molokini & Kahoolawe.  The estate can be rented for a ceremony only or for a wedding and reception venue, for couples wanting a romantic and secluded location.

Patty chose a gorgeous driftwood arch, adorned with jewel toned floral arrangements from Dellables, they were stunning!  Our florist do an amazing job of duplicating our clients’ visions!  Dellables made matching floral centerpieces, then after the ceremony, we repurposed the arch piece to make the table look lush & full, while saving some money.

Pastor Valentine Rosette performed a heartfelt ceremony and the couple incorporated their children by presenting them with leis.  The lei ceremony is the perfect touch of Hawaiian and is a great way to include & honor children and parents attending the wedding.

After the ceremony was completed, we made sure to get a group shot while we had everyone there, then break down into the smaller family & friend combination photos.  I always highly recommend making a list of group shots beforehand, so no important shots are forgotten!

The guests relocated to the reception venue at Gather on Maui, while the bride and groom continued their bridal portraits on the Lava rock point, The view is incredible and make for some dramatic shots!

The guests were greeted at Gather in Maui and escorted to the reception venue on the lower lawn which boasts incredible ocean views surrounded by the immaculate, gold course golf course.  Cocktails & appetizers flowed while the bride and groom stopped at Po’olenalena beach for some romantic sunset photos.

Once we knew Patty & Henry were headed to the reception, we had the DJ instruct all of the guests to be seated and the newlyweds were announced!  First dance as husband & Wife was beautiful and we loved the added touch of the Aloha Marquee as their backdrop.

It was such a pleasure to be a part of Patty & Henry’s special day! Please contact A Perfect Paradise Wedding to get started on planning your Dream Maui wedding, we would love to assist you!

It was A Perfect Paradise Wedding at The Kukahiko Estate!

Paul & Nicole wanted an intimate wedding & reception with their closet friends and family, who would be traveling with them from Canada.  The most important factor was to be on the Ocean’s edge for their special day and the Kukahiko estate far surpassed their expectations!

The Kukahiko estate is a beautiful, ocean front property located in Makena Maui that offers affordable rates for private events.   The couple wanted to keep the décor simple and let their guests enjoy the stunning views.

After a very special ceremony performed by Charles Nahale and family photos, everyone enjoyed appetizers by Mollywood catering & cocktails by Bars R Us.

The photographer, Tad Craig captured amazing bridal portraits of Nicole & Paul on the lava rocks during golden hour.  The waves were incredible that day and made for some dramatic photos.  The Maui sunset was specular, bight pinks and oranges, that just got better and better with every passing moment.

The guests were seated at the grand dining farm table, adorned with bud vases with a variety of Hawaiian tropical flowers.  The couple was announced and had their first dance and cake cutting under the romantic bare bulb lights and stars, followed by an amazing dinner,

Thank you Nicole & Paul for choosing A Perfect Paradise Wedding to be your Maui wedding planners! We wish you a lifetime of joy & Aloha!

Elegant Sugar Beach wedding & reception

Lauren & Eric planned their dream wedding from my home birth State of Indiana.  Never having been to Maui, they relied on our expertise on choosing the best location for their special day.  They fell in love with our recommendation of the Sugar Beach Events Venue located in South Maui! Impressed with the incredible Ocean view, long stretch of sandy beach and the venues grounds, they knew they made the right choice upon first glance and the beautiful wedding site.

The day began with Hair & make up in the elegant bridal suite with Lauren and a few family members while our team set up the ceremony site.

We planned an intimate first look for the bride & groom, a great photo opportunity and gives the couple a chance to spend a few moments together before the ceremony.

Lauren & Eric had one of my all time favorite, grand entrances!  The bride’s brothers surprised everyone with their duo flower dude moves!  One brother leap frogged over the other off the stairs!

The ceremony was performed by one of Eric’s close friends and he did an amazing job of personalizing the script and making it very special to the couple.

After family & group photos, the guests enjoyed an assortment of passed appetizers from Café O’ Lei while the bride & groom continued their romantic shots on the beach.

The centerpieces were repurposed from the arch flowers on to wooden farm tables adorned by monstara leaves and lots of candles to create beautiful dining tables by the oceans edge.

The Newly weds were announced for their first dance as husband & wife, then joined their guest for a wonderful dinner under the stars.

Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple chose to have a banana fosters station which was a big hit with everyone!  After dessert, the guests made their way inside for some fun on the dancing floor with one of our favorite DJ’s, Take Three Events.

Why you need a day of coordinator!

A wedding is one of the most exciting days in a couple’s life, but it can also be the most stressful!  A lot of planning and preparation goes into making sure nothing is overlooked and every detail is perfect, but without an on-site coordinator, who is left to make sure it’s all property executed?  Without a coordinator, the wedding couple and well-meaning friends & family are left to deal with any issues that may arise when they should be getting ready & enjoying the day.

No matter how well an event is planned, there is almost certain to be some unexpected hiccups along the way. From power outages, traffic delays, tardy vendors, and weather causing havoc, it’s important to have an experienced coordinator to handle the unexpected, replying on their knowledge, vendor list, emergency kit & past experience to sort things out.

The “day of” or on-site coordinator duties usually begin months prior to the actual event with helping to create a detailed schedule to ensure the proper flow of the couple’s special day.  Vendors are reconfirmed for both timing and details of what is being provided to make sure everyone is on the same page.  This is a great way to prevent any misunderstandings & catch potential mistakes before they happen.

A rehearsal & site inspection is done 1 to 2 days prior to the wedding day.  This is a great opportunity to reconfirm any details with the bride & groom and fine tune the site diagram.  It’s also a chance to address any questions from the bridal party or family that maybe hasn’t been a part of the planning process.  I have found that having a rehearsal can ease a lot of undue stress for everyone!   Once we have met in person, I like to reach out again to all the vendors, reconfirming all the details and to go over any changes.

On the wedding day, the on-site coordinator is the main point of contact for the guests and vendor questions.   The wedding couple should be left to get ready and enjoy their day without any interruptions.  The coordinator is helping with the caterer, florist, photography, musicians and additional vendors to ensure that no detail is overlooked and the vision that the couple has worked so hard to plan comes to life.

With over 22 years of experience in wedding planning on the island of Maui, I have had the pleasure of working at hundreds of wedding venues and with thousands of wonderful couples.  I feel so blessed to have been a part of so many special events and helping to create some of the most cherished memories in our clients’ lives.

Romantic under the stars reception at the Kukahiko estate

Elijah & Halee choose the beautiful, Ocean front Kukahiko estate in Makena for their intimate ceremony & romantic reception to celebrate with their closest family & friends.  The Kukahiko estate is one of our favorite venues on Maui and perfect for groups of 40 and under looking for a stunning & private location.

The couple rented a roadster and a first look was planned with photographer, Juan, from www.limnedlight.com  in Makena along the ocean.  I love the look on Elijah’s face when he glimpsed his beautiful bride to be for the first time!  The couple was able to share a few minutes of alone time before driving together to the Kukahiko estate to freshen up prior to the wedding ceremony.

Pastor Valentine Rosette performed a wonderful ceremony, the sound of the waves crashing behind the couple as they recited their personalized wedding vows, exchanged rings and kisses.  The couple exited to a rose petal toss and were soon joined by their family & friends to congratulate them!

The guests enjoyed appetizers from Café O’ Lei and cocktails from Aloha Bars while the couple finished their bridal portraits out on the lava rock point.  At sunset the couple returned and did cake cutting & first dance with the twinkle lit trees as their back drop followed by a romantic dinner under the stars.

At the end of the evening, the newlyweds were sent off biodegradable, confetti canisters as made their way to the awaiting roadster and their honeymoon!

Mahalo to our sweet couple, we loved being a part of their special day!  If your looking for a romantic location for your Maui wedding & reception, let us know we have venues for every group size and budget!
