Keawala’i Church Ceremony & Gannon’s Wailea Reception with Juliana & Adam

Juliana & Adam’s stunning tropically inspired wedding took place at the beautiful, Keawala’I Church in Makena Maui.

Juliana and her bride tribe spent the morning together getting hair and makeup done, sipping champagne and having fun at The Hotel Wailea.  The pre wedding photos of these beauties in their Hawaiian Haku Leis are some of my favorite!   It was also  important for Juliana & Adam to have a few special moments alone for a pre wedding “look” before the big moment in front of family & friends.

After a very special ceremony with Rev. Alika, group & family photos were taken on the Church grounds before the guests headed to cocktail hour at the lower Lawn at Gannon’s in Wailea.  The bride & groom slipped away for a few romantic beach photos before joining their guests at the wedding reception.

Juliana sent a few photos of a beautiful table set up she found and we were more than happy to have it duplicated for her reception tables!  Beautiful, rich Blue linens with the Natural cross back chairs that were just stunning together!

Moments before sunset, Julian & Adam were introduced and enjoyed their first dance as husband & Wife!

Mahalo to Juliana & Adam for choosing A Perfect Paradise Wedding to be a part of your special day!

Gorgeous Prewedding & First Look photos at The Olowalu Plantation House

Every fairy tale needs a good beginning, right?!  The Wedding photographer captures the love story of your special day as it unfolds, the carefully planned details and behind the scenes transformations. The Pre-ceremony photos are such a special time, the final touches, bridal party shenanigans and of course the first glimpse of the bride in her wedding gown!

In addition to the separate pre- ceremony photos, the “First Look” session has become a very popular trend in weddings.  The first look is a special moment, documented, between the bride & groom to see each other privately before the big event.  These are some of my personal favorite photos, they are always so sweet and touching! The first look photos give the couple an opportunity to have a little quiet time away from the attention & distraction, to just “be” in the moment.

All of our newlyweds that have done the pre- ceremony & first look photos agree, that it helped  calm their nerves and gave them more time to enjoy their family and friends at the cocktail hour.

As a wedding planner on Maui for over 18 years, I highly recommend to my clients to choose a time line that allows for a few pre- ceremony photos, first look, bridal party portraits & possibly even a few immediate family photos before the ceremony.  Your wedding day goes by in the blink of an eye and you “don’t want to miss a thing”! I encourage couples to do some of the “must have” photos before, so they don’t feel rushed after the ceremony and are actually able to enjoy the fabulous day they planned!

These Gorgeous pre- ceremony and first look photos were taken of our stunning couple, Shannon & Giles at The Olowalu Plantation House in Maui, Hawaii by the talented Trish Barker.   More photos to come of the wedding  ceremony & reception in our next blog!  Check back soon!

Sweet Kapalua Bay Elopement

Mark contacted me from Washington and let me know that he was planning on surprising his long time girlfriend during an awards banquet dinner and popping the question! I knew I was going to love working with this fun couple right off the bat!

We planned for a simple, but romantic sunset beach ceremony at Kapalua Bay.

About 30 minutes prior to the ceremony, as I was placing the final touches on the circle of flowers, dark clouds rolled in and completely drenched the beach! About the same time, the groom called to say that he had arrived a bit early and was parking the car.  I asked him to stay put in his car, judging by the sky, it looked like the down pour would be brief.  Within just a few minutes the rain stopped and the sun popped back out!  Luckily, showers on Maui are usually isolated & brief, but as a wedding planner it is always a good idea to have back up plans A & B available!

The ceremony took place in a Hand crafted, circle of Hawaiian flowers, performed  by one of our favorite Officiates, Pastor Kimo!

Leis, rings and kisses were exchanged, Nicole Sanchez at www.behindthelensmaui.com did a beautiful job of capturing this special day! Thank you Mark & April for choosing me to be a part of your special day!

Here’s the review that Mark left us on Wedding Wire, it  might be the cutest review I’ve had!

Kelly is a gem! A trooper! A rock star! She did not let a little seasonal rain deter her from setting up on the beach as planned. I was a hot mess and she stayed calm and cool. A half hour before our ceremony started it was pouring rain and I’m panicking. But not Kelly! Then the clouds departed and blue skies were overhead right at the start time. Of course, Kelly was soaking wet but that did not stop her from making sure we had an awesome experience. As the professional photographer was taking photos, Kelly took photos using my cell phone which was great to be able to share pictures right away to friends and family. Kelly, we love you! Thank you!

Reception Décor made easy!

Choosing reception décor can be a bit overwhelming with so many beautiful options available!  I have devised a basic guide to assist my clients in capturing the look & feel that they are envisioning for their wedding and reception.

Grand dining table:

For our smaller, more intimate size groups, we recommend a grand dining table with guests seated on both sides of the table.  The grand dining table can be created comfortably for groups under 45 with banquet tables.   Colored or natural fiber linens, napkins, and  runners can also be added to enhance the look.

Traditional:

Traditional seating usually consists of a head table with seating on only one side, for the bridal party to face out to the guests.

Sweet heart table:

For larger bridal parties we recommend the Sweet Heart table for just the newly weds. The bridal party can then sit with their spouses or significant others at the guest tables.  The guest dining tables can either be round or long banquet tables.  We have access to basic white to luxury linens depending on your style & budget.

Chic:

A popular spin on the traditional look is the chic wooden farm tables, available in either a dark wood or white wash finish.  The wooden tables are a little more expensive, but they are so pretty you can save some money on flower décor!

Modern:

The blooming trend for 2018 has been what I would categorize as Modern,  a head table facing a mix of 1/2  farm tables and 1/2 round tables with linens.  It really looks pretty! Especially with my favorite new chairs, the natural cross backs!

Dinning Canopies:

Dining Canopies are available in a Natural Bamboo or a Farm style and really create an intimate atmosphere for any event!

Our rental companies and design teams  are are always updating their inventory and love creating new looks! For more information on planning your Maui wedding & reception visit our web site at www.aperfectparadisewedding.com
